Annual Meeting for Juniors
11:00 on Friday, February 21st
at Haas Livestock in Cannon Falls

Jr. Merchandise Auction will be held at Treasurer Island Resort & Casino at the conclusion of the annual banquet - February 21st Jr. Concession stand fundraiser will be Saturday morning, February 22nd at Haas Livestock in Cannon Falls. Every family is asked to bring a large pan of bars (do not cut them).

MN Jr Simmental Show Person of the Year

Minnesota Junior Simmental Show Person of the Year Award Awards will be awarded to the high point exhibitor in Junior Shows throughout this year's show season. To be eligible for this award, which will be presented at the Annual Banquet in February, participants must be members of the Minnesota Junior Simmental Association. Junior Memberships need to be paid by the first show for eligibility. Juniors may still join after the first eligible show but that show will not be counted in points. Email completed forms by January 31st to hilbraam@morris.umn.edu

This year the budget has been set to award cash prizes to students with 11+ points receiving $50, and students
with 5-10 points receiving $25. Student's name will be put into a hat and three individuals in each categories
will receive an additional prize. Junior (age 8-14/January); Senior (age 15-21/January). Points will accumulate year to year, and be a factor for awarding educational scholarships to active members, support individuals who want to attend the bi-annual AJSA Leadership Conference, and to support those MJSA members who may earn a position as a national trustee. Submite complete form by January 31st for eligibility for the annual recognition at the Annual MN Simmental Association State Sale/Banquet in Februay. Email completed form to pitstopacres@gmail.com

Junior members who have leadership experience, such as being an officer within the junior association, are encouraged to apply for the Bronze Merit Award. Applications and two letters of reference are due to Daryl & Marilee Peterson by the end of the day on October 17th. Please email it to pitstopacres@gmail.com

Minnesota Simmental Queen:

The Minnesota Simmental Association is looking for eligible young ladies to be contestants for the MN Simmental Queen and Princess.  In addition to this honor, the Queen will be awarded a $250 scholarship and the Princess a $100 award as well as each receiving a $100 clothing allowance.  If you are between the ages of 16 and 21 years of age by January 1, unmarried, an MJSA member and knowledgeable about the Simmental breed, please consider this your invitation to apply.

Dustin Volz Scholarship
Attention College Seniors:

Interested in applying for the Dustin Volz Scholarship of $800? Annually, the Volz family Awards a senior graduating with A four year degree with a scholarship. The senior needs to write an essay titled:  “What experiences have you drawn upon as a Minnesota Jr. Simmental member to prepare you for life after college?”

MJSA members who are High School Senior or older can apply for a scholarship to apply to their
education plans after school. This includes a trade school, technical college, university or beyond.
The purpose of the scholarship is to reward active members of the MJSA and support their
continuing education plans. Scholarships will be awarded based on evaluation of the application
which is worth 50 points. Their accumulated participation points will be added to help make the final
award determination. Applicants should also provide proof of enrollment such as a transcript or
acceptance letter.

The scholarship applications will be reviewed by a group of three individuals (not related to the

An individual can only earn the scholarship once, but they can apply for it more than once up until
they are 21. Recipients must be a paid member of MJSA.
